Saturday course was 15km with 12 sections. I dabbed 36 times in the expert Pre 78 class in 30 sections, so about 1 per section. Great zones, tricky but not dangerous. On was a great Scottish Pipeline, about 100 meter on a rocky wall, stones were lying differntly after each passage. I made it once with zero and was happy !

Robert Triffeaux from Belgium on his TY 250 had only 18 dabs and Spaniard Blai Jove on his beautiful Ossa 24. Eddy Zels on his Pre 65 BSA 13 and local Champ and organisor Joel Corroy 20, quite better than me...bravo.

But, there was one champion on a Fantic beating us all: Zero !!! Paul Mollet from Jersey...On Sundy he dabed 8 on 40 sections !!! must have glued his feet on the pegs...

Gunther Rudloff made 29 and Patrick Garcia roared his heavy Ariel 500 in the expert class with 68. Bravo, must have been at the limit.

Picture of the day: Greg Mawlaw's lovely partner is servicing his Majesty !

After this great Trial, we had some home made salami from Alex Sampfli (son of Ernst, not here today), some beers and then there was the

Ernst in the Pipeline

Everybody started the trials bike an we rode across Arbecey. What a great event, people were waving from their gardens and houses, no angry face!

Dinner and lots of drinks followed till I creeped in my Volvo an slept till 8h in the morning.

Sunday

Sunday morning greeted us with sunshine. We had a great breakfast at Anne-Marie and Ernst's Hotel, eeeeh, in front of their camper

Jo woke up as well, but not the sun was the reason, rather an english gentleman roared his Tiger Cub, after having stripped the engine during the night.
Unfortunately his oil pump was still not working, so sadly no start..

Start Sunday Blai Jove at the start

Sunday was 20 zones with 30 km, all in the wood of Arbecey. Most sections were tricky, but possible with 1 dab or zero. Except the last 4 ones. Here a 3 was already good, as there were slippery white rocks. I don't know, how the champs passed below 3, but that's always the mystery of the less gifted riders to wonder...My average was 1.5, meaning 30 points per round.  In the last section, I must have cut my tyre, because there was no more air in... Lucky me I did zone 20 after the 10, whend coming back to the park. The 30km round was divieded in 2, so after 10 zones back in the park ferme.
I slowely road back. The tyre was anyway to be dumped, so luck again...

Honda in the field

I finsished just below 100 points in the expert class in 2 days, with one crash, which was even documented (see pics above...). Joel introduced a Pre78 class, to distinguish the less competitive bikes from the latest lighter twinshockers or bring back the Cota 348, Bultacos and all the first Japs. There were only 5 starters in the Pre78 expert class and 6 in the Pre65 class. When looking at the low points of those cracks like Eddy Zels, Joel Corroy and Gunther Rudloff, I have to rethink about the competitivness of the older bikes... bravo! Chapeau!!!! That's trial, a well working bike on a champ can not be beaten. 24 Experts finished, and 24 in the middle National class plus 30 in the Gentleman line, plus some abandons,, equaling alomost 100 twinschok riders from all over Europe.

Pre65 class with 22 finishers, Pre 78 with 16.

A great event in the woods of Arbecey.
